President of Alibaba: We plan to move into Indian E-commerce market this year.

Alibaba plans to enter into the India’s E-commerce market this year, seeking for opportunities to systematically establish business relations, or cutting into the Indian market or by other means. J.M ichael Evans, who is the ECO of Alibaba told reporters in new Delhi: "we plan to enter into Indian E-commerce market in 2016, for we've been carefully looking for Indian E-commerce opportunities. Under the backdrop of the"digital India”’advance, we are excited about Indian E-commerce market."


According to Evans, Alibaba is evaluating conceivable opportunities to establish organized business , at the same time looking for other opportunities.

Last Friday, Evans and K.Guru Gowrappan, who was the general manager of Alibaba, met with Ravi Shankar Prasad, who was India's technology minister of information and communications department.  Evans said that Alibaba plans to enter the Indian market, to service not only customers and consumers, also service small businesses, because it is in accordance with the nature of Alibaba.

"We have already invested in Indian E-commerce market, next year we will make a specific strategy." Evans said.

Alibaba has invested in Paytm( Third-party payment platform) and Snapdeal (Domestic electric business platform). Ravi Shankar Prasad said: "We welcome Alibaba’s entry to India, hoping it can smoothly develop in India, including the E-commerce business’s expansion. I will repeat that Alibaba’s business is completely free in India."
