The Joint Declaration about Feasibility Study of Eurasian Economic Partnership A

On July.4, 2017, under the witness of Chinese president Xi Jinping and Russian president Vladimir Putin, the Joint Declaration about feasibility study of Eurasian Economic Partnership Agreement (hereinafter refers to as "Declaration”) between Ministry of Commerce of the People's Republic of China and Ministry for Economic Development of the Russian Federation was signed by Zhong Shan, minister of China's Ministry of Commerce and Maxim Oleshkin, minister of Russian Ministry of Economic Development. The feasibility study of Eurasian Economic Partnership Agreement will be launched. The sign of Declaration is an important economic and trade achievement for Xi Jinping’s visit, which shows the firm determination of deepening mutual beneficial cooperation and promoting the liberalization of trade and regional economic integration between China and Russia, the common will of trade and investment liberalization which is comprehensive, high-level and open to other economies. These will inject new motivations into comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between the two countries.

China and Russia have a strong economic complementarity and a solid cooperative basis. China is the largest trading partner of Russia. The bilateral trade has maintained a steady growth in recent years, and the bilateral investment has a great development potential.

On May.8, 2015, China and Russia published the Joint Declaration on Silk Road Economic Belt Construction and  Eurasian Economic Union Cooperation in Moscow, which reached an important consensus on Silk Road Economic Belt construction and Eurasian Economic Union cooperation. On June.25, 2016, China and Russia published the Joint Declaration again in Beijing, which emphasized the consensus on implementing Silk Road Economic Belt construction and  Eurasian Economic Union cooperation has a great significance, and advocated the establishment of comprehensive Eurasian partnership on the basis of openness, transparency and consideration of mutual interests.

The launch of feasibility study of Eurasian Economic Partnership Agreement is an important step to implement the consensus of leaders of the two countries. It not only helps to further expand bilateral trade and investment, but also commits to creating a more fair, transparent and convenient environment for trade and investment, to jointly promote the regional economic development.
