The second round of negotiation of Sino-New Zealand FTA was held in Beijing

From July 4 to July 6, 2017, The second round of negotiation of Sino-New Zealand FTA was held in Beijing. The negotiation focus on technical barrier, customs procedure and trade facilitation, rule of origin, investment, competition policy, electronic commerce, cooperation in agriculture, environment, government procurement and so on.

Sino-New Zealand FTA is the first free trade agreement between China and developed countries. The Sino-New Zealand FTA which signed in 2008 have made bilateral economic and trade relations enter a new stage of development. Since the agreement have been implemented for 8 years, the trade volume between the two countries has increased by an average annual rate of 13.2%, which have effectively promoted the development of bilateral economic and trade relations. The bilateral economic and trade cooperation has been expanded and the interests of the two countries have been gradually deepened. The upgrading of Sino-New Zealand FTA will further promote Sino-New Zealand economic and trade relations, improve bilateral economic and trade cooperation level, better benefit enterprises and people of both countries, further consolidate the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and New Zealand.
