Shandong (simplified Chinese: 山东; traditional Chinese: 山东; pinyin: Shāndōng; Wade-Giles: Shan-tung) is a coastal province of eastern People's Republic of China. Its abbreviation is Lǔ, after the state of Lu that existed here during the Spring and Autumn Period.

Shandong's name is literally translated as: east of the mountain, which refers to the province's location east of the Taihang Mountains. The province is located in the lower reaches of the Huang He (Yellow River) and extends out to sea in the form of the Shandong Peninsula. Shandong borders the Bohai Sea to the north, Hebei to the northwest, Henan to the west, Jiangsu to the south, and the Yellow Sea to the southeast; it also shares a very short border with Anhui, between Henan and Jiangsu.

A common nickname for Shandong is Qílǔ, after the state of Lu and state of Qi that existed here during the Spring and Autumn Period.

Textile

Shandong Textile Industry Association is in playing a role of bridge bonds between the government and enterprises, is committed to promoting and maintaining the benign development of textile industry. Shandong textile is one of the important bases of China’s textile industry, has already formed all kinds of complete industrial system including the lines of cotton, wool, linen and silk, the equipment manufacturing for technical and household textiles, clothing apparel, chemical fiber and textile special devices. Shandong textile remains ahead of its peers in terms of comprehensive production capacity and total annual output in China.

To carry out national policies and regulations, to assist the government department on charge of the industrial management and service; To carry out the investigation and research for the textile industry, to put forward comments and suggestions for the relevant industrial policies and legislative; To participate in making industrial planning, to take part in industrial development planning and feasibility studies on major technological imports, investment and development projects; To collect, analyze and release industrial information, to make statistics; To participate in and organize the implementation of industry standard; To carry out economic and technical exchange and cooperation of domestic and aboard, to organize industry application of scientific and technological achievements, etc.
